This Privacy Policy describes how Sketra (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application (“App”). Sketra turns your photos into hand-drawn pencil sketches and teaches you to draw them through an AI-generated tutorial. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your photos and data are handled.

Information We Collect

Sketra is designed to work without requiring you to create an account. We collect only what is needed to provide the App's core features:

  • Photos you choose to upload: Images you select from your camera roll or take with your camera to generate a sketch and tutorial
  • Drawing attempts: Photos of your own hand-drawn attempts that you submit for AI coaching feedback
  • App activity: Your progress through the Learn tab curriculum and generated tutorials, stored locally on your device
  • Purchase information: Subscription and purchase status, managed via RevenueCat and the App Store

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide and improve the App's functionality:

  • Generate a hand-drawn pencil sketch from a photo you provide
  • Generate a 5-step, photo-specific drawing tutorial
  • Provide AI coaching feedback by comparing your drawing attempts to the tutorial steps
  • Track your progress through the fixed drawing-fundamentals curriculum in the Learn tab
  • Manage your subscription and unlock purchased features

Data Storage

Sketra stores your data locally on your device using an on-device SQLite database. There are no user accounts and no cross-device sync. Photos you upload are sent to third-party AI providers solely to generate your sketch, tutorial, and coaching feedback, as described below, and are not permanently retained on our servers.

AI-Generated Sketches & Coaching

When you upload a photo, it is sent to OpenAI's image model to generate a pencil-sketch rendering and an accompanying step-by-step drawing tutorial. When you submit a photo of your own drawing attempt, it is likewise sent to OpenAI's model to generate coaching feedback. This processing is subject to OpenAI's own privacy policy and data usage terms. We do not use your photos to train our own AI models, and we do not sell your photos or drawings to any third party.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI: For generating pencil sketches, drawing tutorials, and coaching feedback from photos you submit
  • RevenueCat: For managing subscriptions and in-app purchases
  • Apple App Store: For processing payments and billing

We do not integrate advertising SDKs or sell your data to any third parties.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information or photos with third parties for marketing purposes. Your photos are only shared with the AI providers described above, solely to generate the sketches, tutorials, and feedback you request.

Your Rights & Data Deletion

Because Sketra stores your data locally on your device and does not require an account:

  • You can delete individual sketches, tutorials, and drawing attempts at any time within the App
  • Deleting the App from your device permanently removes all locally stored data
  • Photos submitted for AI processing are not retained by us after the sketch, tutorial, or feedback is generated

Children's Privacy

Sketra is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.

Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Photos are transmitted to third-party AI providers using encrypted, industry-standard connections, and data stored on your device is protected by your device's own security measures.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
